Wednesday, October 22---Medical appointment

Today was the medical appt required by US immigration. To say that Matthew hated it would be an understatement. He has cried a sad cry with us but we've not heard the screaming we heard today. He was clearly scared to death and ticked off! There were 4 stations and all were equally traumatizing! As soon as they were finished with Matthew we took him outside the building! After our experience at the civil affairs on Tuesday we felt like leaving the building would help. Thankfully it did. Leaving the building and finding M&M's helped him calm down. We wondered what the rest of the day would be like but he recovered nicely. He has a very strong preference for our hotel room! When we are there he is relaxed, happy, and will play with Anna. Once we returned to the hotel today we saw him relax and the rest of the day was good.

While Shawn and Sarah went running i took Anna and Matthew to the playground. I am fairly certain it was Matthew's first time on a slide. He wanted me to go with him the first 2 times but after that he was more than happy to go alone. He loved it!!! He would slide and squeal, then run around, climb up, and do it again. It was so much fun to witness that "first" for him. It is exciting to think of all the things he will get to do in the next year that he has never done but most of us take for granted. We heard more giggles today than yesterday. It is such a sweet sound to my ears. So much in fact, I forgot to get my camera out! We will have to return another night with daddy so we can get pictures. We did go back down with daddy and Sarah tonight but when we got there other families were there and Matthew didn't want to stay. Have I mentioned he prefers to be in familiar places with familiar people?!  I was fine with leaving myself because we have had some issues with the people here staring at Matthew's foot. It is turned pretty significantly and while I understand it catches the eye, there is a difference in noticing and staring rudely from one foot to the other.

We are so happy with how well he is adjusting!  Check out this video of him giggling!
