Today was a free day for our family. Because Matthew was still running a low fever, he and Shawn had a quiet morning in the hotel room. The girls and I went to the Guangzhou museum. It was a fun morning with them although AnnaGrace quickly tired of the museum. While we were gone Shawn tried taking Matthew to the playground because he missed that the other night. He said the first time they went down there another family was playing so Matthew didn't want to stay. We have found that he isn't happy around other Chinese families. I wonder if he has heard some of them talking about his hands and foot this week. We certainly wouldn't know if they were talking about him but he would. Shawn said he returned later when no other families were there and he started crying...so who knows what is going on in his little mind. It will be nice when he is able to communicate in English. The afternoon and evening were spent playing in the room, napping, and just being together. Matthew continues to open up a little more each day, for which we are truly thankful!
I have two resources to go with my post from yesterday. First, the agency that helped us with our adoption is Lifeline Children's Services. Their web address is HERE. We have used them for 2 of our 3 adoptions and can tell you they are top notch!! Not only can they help answer adoption related questions, they are also a great place to go to learn more about helping children around the world who are alone. Lifeline has started a foster home in the area near Matthew's orphanage. There are currently 13 children living in the foster home who used to be where Matthew lived. Praise the Lord for an agency who doesn't just seek to place children but also has a heart for caring for those still waiting. They are looking for more families to partner with them so they can bring more children into the foster home and get them out of the orphanage. Finally, if you would like to help put things into the hands of the nannies and children at Matthew's orphanage, visit HERE. A good friend will be traveling there next month to adopt her son and she is planning on filling an extra suitcase with donations for the orphanage. She has created a wish list of items on the above site for people to buy and have shipped to her so she can bless the children still waiting. I would love to know that some of you sent things to the children still waiting. Tomorrow is another free day. Here's hoping for no fever and a fun day! Thanks for your prayers for our family.
